NEW TO THE TACTICAL MARKET: Bollé Safety Standard Issue unveils ProLaser, a lens technology designed to counter laser threats

Bollé Safety, a global leader in PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) eye protection, is strengthening its commitment to defense and security professionals. One year after the launch of MY6, its premium ballistic eyewear, the brand is addressing the growing threats posed by lasers and light beams with ProLaser, a precision lens technology dedicated to the defense sector. Designed to meet the rising use of laser devices in the field, this innovation provides targeted filtration of dangerous wavelengths without compromising users' vision, while ensuring maximum protection.

ProLaser, a response to emerging laser threats

In recent years, the use of laser devices has grown dramatically, creating an increasing threat for defense and security professionals. Military personnel, special forces, intervention units, law enforcement officers and airline pilots are exposed to laser attacks that can cause visual disturbance, disorientation, and temporary or permanent eye damage — sometimes with irreversible consequences for their careers. These incidents occur in particular during demonstrations involving commercial laser pointers or during operations involving high-power military lasers.

In response, Bollé Safety developed ProLaser, a lens technology capable of effectively blocking certain dangerous laser wavelengths, while delivering an optimal balance between high Visible Light Transmission (VLT), ensuring excellent visual clarity, and high Optical Density (OD), providing targeted protection. ProLaser lenses thus preserve clear vision while filtering hazardous radiation.

Technical features that place ProLaser at the forefront of innovation

ProLaser lens technology combines targeted laser filtration, certified ballistic resistance and optimal visual clarity to provide a comprehensive solution for defense and security professionals. ProLaser is also available in two versions, each designed to address a specific type of laser threat:

EMERALD : Protection against high-intensity military lasers - 400 nm (violet), 694 nm (ruby red) and 1064 nm (near infrared) - with optical density (OD ≥ 4) at the targeted wavelengths, typically used in defense and targeting systems.

TOPAZ : Protection against commercial consumer lasers - 400 nm (violet) and 532 nm (green) - with optical density (OD ≥ 4) at the targeted wavelengths, commonly used in laser pointers.

This technology is built on an advanced technical foundation designed to combine optical performance and operational robustness:

+         High-performance targeted laser filtration: High optical density (OD) to effectively block dangerous wavelengths while maintaining superior visual clarity;

+         Vision optimized for action: Visible Light Transmission (VLT) is optimized to maximize environmental readability and support situational awareness, while preserving contrast, depth perception and 360° peripheral vision - key elements in operations;

+         Anti-fog and anti-scratch coating: ProLaser incorporates anti-fog and anti-scratch coating to improve visibility in the field;

+         Interchangeable polycarbonate lenses: An interchangeable lens system designed to adapt quickly to different environments and levels of laser threat. Made of optical-grade polycarbonate, the lenses combine light weight, impact resistance and visual comfort for extended missions;

+         Full compatibility with MY6: ProLaser integrates with MY6, Bollé Safety Standard Issue's premium ballistic eyewear designed for high-risk operations requiring maximum ballistic protection and compatibility with field equipment;

+         Wide range of CSP tints: In addition to Emerald and Topaz laser lenses, MY6 ballistic eyewear is compatible with the full range of CSP lens tints (Clear, Smoke, Amber, Copper, Vermillion) adapted to different lighting conditions and operational environments.

Lastly, ProLaser technology incorporates the strictest international ballistic standards (MIL-PRF-32432A¹ and STANAG 2920 V50²) and is tested according to the impact requirements of EN166³, ensuring the highest level of multi-threat protection and optimal safety for users.

Designed to integrate perfectly with MY6 ballistic protective eyewear, this accessory ensures optimal visual precision on every mission, while providing clarity and comfort without compromising the level of protection, whatever the intervention conditions.

The game-changing innovation

Combining maximum protection and preserved vision

With ProLaser, Bollé Safety provides a concrete answer to a need long expressed by professionals: benefiting from laser protection without sacrificing the visual clarity essential to their operations.

"At Bollé Safety, we take into account the new threats faced by defense and security professionals. The main challenge in developing effective laser protection was to selectively filter dangerous laser wavelengths while maintaining sufficient visible light transmission to maximize readability of the environment and provide optimal vision in action. With ProLaser, we have developed an advanced selective filtration technology that precisely neutralizes harmful laser radiation without blocking the rest of the light spectrum. This approach makes it possible to achieve an optimal balance between high optical density and maximized brightness for clarity. This new technology gives professionals the confidence that their vision is protected without compromising their operational capability or the visual performance they need to accomplish their mission safely."
