- A dirty and abrasive environment (dust, sand, iron filings etc.) - The way you store your eyewear (a micro-fibre pouch or case is highly recommended when you are not wearing your eyewear). We recommend that safety spectacles and safety goggles are kept in a suitable case when not in use. - The way you clean your lenses can also be a reason. |

- Can lenses create optical distortions ? |

Under the European standard EN 166, the class 1 optical quality standard assures an optical quality that is distortion free for permanent wear. However, sometimes curved lenses can affect the lateral vision of some people. This kind of problem is often associated to the individual’s vision and not the product. |

- How to choose the correct safety eyewear ? |

Above all, in order to choose your safety spectacles, you have to take into account the environment and the incurred risks.
- Then, the required protection: the model must be the most enveloping as possible. - The 2nd selection requirement is the optical quality. You have to pay careful attention: your safety spectacles must have a perfect optical quality for permanent wear i.e. class 1 optical quality. - Aestheticism is a very important requirement. - Angle adjustable requirement can allow a better adaptation for most people. - Comfort, the weight requirements are more and more important in order to make wearing of safety eyewear easier.

- What do the standards marking on lenses and frame mean? |

 |
Every standard corresponds to precise indications according to the standard EN166 and complementary standards. All of our product ranges (safety spectacles, safety goggles, safety face shields, welding masks etc) are submitted to specific standards according to the incurred risks. The reference standard is EN 166. In relation with the risks (mechanical, termal, chemical, electrical, radiations…), other standards can be requested. In this way, each marking follows precise indications according to standards. Please do not hesitate to contact your commercial manager in case of doubt. |

- Can I wear safety spectacles or/and safety goggles all day? |

Sure, yes. The European standard EN166 defines 3 types of optical quality: - Optical class 1: Continuous work - Optical class 2: Intermittent work - Optical class 3: Occasional work Make sure your safety spectacles or/and your safety goggles are marked to optical quality class 1 on the lens. |

- Is there a safety spectacle available for electrical protection? |
|
 |
The European standard, EN166 defines the 8 marking as electrical short circuit arc which is only available on a face shield (eye and face protection). This protection will allow protect your face and eyes against incurred risks. |

- When should I replace my safety spectacles? |
|
 |
Like all other protective products, the life depends on the type of use, care and maintenance. Your lenses must be immediately replaced when cracked, chipped or scratched. If your frame is damaged, replace the entire product. After use, your safety spectacles or safety goggles must be stored in its original packaging of case. |

- Can I wear clear safety spectacles to protect myself against UV? |
|
 |
Sure, is the lens is polycarbonate. This material absorbs UVA and UVB. Clear safety spectacles can be worn for UV radiations between 280 and 380nm. Below 280nm, please ask our technical department. Regarding radiations, they can be reduced with a tinted lens in relation to the incurred risks and constraints. |

- Does a unique model for the welding exist? |
|

No. Above all, you have to clearly identify the welding process to get the best protection. There are several types of welding, and different types of protection:
For gas welding: Safety spectacles, safety goggles and safety face shields can be used. Caution: the lens tints will be different according to the activity. - Tints 1,2 to 3,4, for a welding assistant - Tints 4 to 7 for welding and brazing - Tints 5 to 7 for flame cutting.
For electrical welding: the best protection varies in function of the welding process and the amperage. However, the use of a safety hood is compulsory in order to avoid any burning risks.
